Edna May Silvers Memorial Scholarship Fund

The donor left a $100,000 testamentary gift for BAF to establish this scholarship fund which will make annual distributions to the Fayette County School Board. The income is to be used for a need-based scholarship for a Fayetteville HS graduate and another for a Midland Trail HS graduate. Edna May Cole Silvers had significant health problems while in high school and with great determination was able to earn her diploma even though she had to return to school when she was older than the other students. “She thought education was very important and wanted to help young people go on to college,” commented Betty Cosby, her friend and caregiver.
