Goal

In Haiti, school uniforms are required for all students. This year, we have 16 children who are in need of new uniforms for the upcoming school year.

Thankfully, many of our children are able to reuse their uniforms from last year because they still fit and are in good condition. However, some of our children have had major growth spurts, are transitioning from primary to secondary school and need a different uniform, or have simply worn through their uniforms from last year.

Each of the 16 children has now been measured, as their uniforms are made by hand specifically for them. Unfortunately, they will not be ready in time for the first day of school, but we are hopeful to have them completed by the end of September.

Cost of fabric: $315
Cost of labor: $365

In addition to replacing uniforms, we had several other back-to-school expenses this year. The majority of our children needed new school shoes. In Haiti, students are required to wear specific shoes as part of their school uniform—black sneakers and black flats with a strap. We also needed to purchase the required textbooks and notebooks for our children for the new school year.

Cost of shoes: $267.50
Cost of textbooks and notebooks: $1,146

Providing our children with uniforms, shoes, textbooks, and all of the basics they need for school is an important part of making sure they are prepared for a successful year. We are incredibly grateful for any support toward these back-to-school expenses.
