Dear supporters,
We are thrilled to introduce you to Early Years Cocoon, an organisation dedicated to supporting more than 500 local families with young children in Barking and Dagenham, one of London's most deprived boroughs. Our aim is to support and empower families by providing educational activities - both indoors and outdoors - nurturing the growth and development of these families.
Since our humble beginnings in late 2018, our free parent and child engagement sessions have rapidly grown in popularity. What started as a fortnightly gathering at our local library, quickly transformed into a weekly tradition, welcoming up to 35 families per session; most of these families seeking connection and support.
Today, we proudly offer 4-5 free weekly sessions across local venues in Dagenham. These vibrant gatherings feature a variety of enriching activities, including child-led play, arts and crafts, singing, parachute games, and story-time. Most importantly, it has been an opportunity to build community where families come together, forging friendships, asking questions, and uplifting one another. We also empower parents to take the lead, fostering a sense of ownership and collaboration under the guidance of a skilled facilitator.
While we are currently supported by grants to sustain our core services for the next three years, we aspire to secure long-term sustainability by diversifying our income sources. This is where your invaluable contribution comes in. Our goal is to raise £3000 as part of this funding appeal which we have launched as part of celebrating Early Years Cocoon’s 5th anniversary. Natalia and the other volunteers have been doing such an incredibile job to guarantee a safe, interactive and familiar place for our children. I love taking my children to your weekly playgroups and see how confident they get each time by interacting with other children and all the amazing activities/materials provided. Also you kept my mental health stable by providing a place where children can be children and us adults can meet other parents/carers/grandparents and have a nice talk between a game/song/whatever activities is on the day.
