Dylan Conmy for Tweedle Dee
As long as there is an opportunity for imagination to thrive, the world can evolve and humanity can strengthen. The arts, in any form, are so vital for growth. I am honored to be a candidate for Tweedle at the Mad Hatter’s Ball, so that I can help raise funds to keep the arts a present, and ever-accessible, outlet for everyone.
As an artist myself, I have been lucky to have a job that provides me with daily opportunities to promote creative thought. After creating murals and window art throughout town, I have spent the last 4 years focusing on being the Special Events Coordinator at Prairie Fox Books in Ottawa. This job has allowed me to create programs for kids and adults, alike, to inspire creativity and encourage imagination to thrive. For over 4 years, I have coordinated the book fair at the Central Intermediate School Fine Arts Fest (headed by art teacher Matthew Sanders), which lets me spend a week surrounded by county-wide student artwork, and student musicians, selling books and science kits to raise money for the arts program at Central. I have had the pleasure of coordinating, and running, similar book fairs for other Ottawa Elementary Schools, Lasalle Elementary Schools, and NCI Artworks (during the Youth Art Show), and will have the honor of raising money for the Starved Rock Country Community Foundation, Pet Project, and the Autism Foundation of the Illinois Valley this October and November with Online Book Fairs.
I have also served as the elected Vice President of the Ottawa Downtown Merchants for 3 years, where I have been able to help create events downtown that let the community interact in creative ways (such as the Holiday Tree Competition, that will continue on its 3rd year, and has offered a platform for grades K-8 to show off some very unique art in classroom teams).
Most recently, I have joined the Arts Advisory Committee for the Starved Rock Country Community Foundation where I am helping to develop fundraising opportunities in order to ensure that grants and scholarships are always readily available to the art community.
Vote me in as Tweedle and help me raise money to make sure the arts are always essential, and always funded.
One dollar donated equals one vote. Candidates may also accept cash or checks.
We invite you to attend the Propeller Beanie Coronation! The selection is based on which of the five candidates has the most votes by Thursday, November 19th at midnight. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum will be announced at 4th Annual The Mad Hatter Ball, Virtual Edition, on the evening of November 20th.
(All of these candidates are "arts royalty" in our minds.)
