I am delighted to be part of this year's Dancing with the Doctors event.  I have been an oncologist for over 40 years and just retired from Mayo  Clinic after spending 20 years at the Rochester, MN campus and the past 9 here at Jacksonville.  I was recruited from my own solo practice in North Dakota where I treated children as well as adults because there wasn't a single pediatric oncologist in the whole state!  I worked with Mayo on their pediatric trials until a pediatric oncologist was found for ND and then joined the Oncology staff in Rochester, MN.  I will never forget the resilience of those little children and the difficulties for their family in treating them.  It was heartwarming over the years to see the survival rates improve.  More must still be done!
