Leadership Skill Building Workshops
Too little effort is put into helping girls develop “soft skills” that will enable them to make intelligent choices, build resilience, maintain well-being and focus, inspire others, and succeed in a challenging world. One of the foundational principles of coaching is empowering people to achieve their dreams. Our workshops are not just learning and development sessions for teenaged young women, they are robust coaching and mentoring programs.
Dream. Believe. Repeat (DBR) offers weekly, in-person and virtual, interactive learning workshops with expert guest speakers from around the world that help girls visualize a better future and help them develop the tools they will need to take action steps towards achieving their goals.
Workshop Topics Include: Building Confidence, Creating a Vision for Your Future and an Action Plan, Discovering and Leveraging Your Strengths, Developing a Growth Mindset, Sex Education, Relationships and Consequences, Staying Safe, Consent and Choices, Self Management/Mindfulness and Meditation, Career Strategies, Coping Skills and Manifesting,
Sanitary Towels
In Kenya, one million girls miss school each month because they cannot afford sanitary pads, Many girls drop out of school when menstruation starts. DBR is an advocate on the ground working to facilitate donations of sanitary towels to girls on Rusinga Island, Kenya.
School Fees
School is not free in Kenya and many girls drop out of school because their education is deemed less important than a boy’s education. In addition, drought has led to more poverty and some families prioritize food over school fees. DBR connects needy girls with donors that care about keeping girls in school.
Community Center Project
Most girls in Kenya do not have access to computers with which they can research universities, listen to inspirational videos, or get much needed information about their rights. It’s our dream to build a Community Center which will include a computer lab for 25 students, a library, as well as an assembly hall for 80 girls at a time to attend our leadership workshops.
We need to raise $80,000 by July 2024.
