This endowment recognizes the life and accomplishments of a prominent Raleigh County physician. He married Madalene Miller, a registered nurse and a graduate of the Raleigh General Hospital School of Nursing. She designated that the income from this fund benefit the local Salvation Army and a portion to be used to provide a scholarship for a Raleigh Co. high school graduate who is entering a nursing program or is already a nursing student. The Raleigh General Nurses Alumni Assoc. made donations to the fund in support of the scholarship. Dr. Vaughan died in 2000. Mrs. Vaughan regularly adds to this fund.
