Mrs. Doris Merchant Bradshaw, now deceased, attended Concord College and worked for many years in the Raleigh County Headstart Program. Her interest in early childhood education motivated Virgil to honor his wife in this fashion. The recipients of this scholarship must be a graduate of a Raleigh County High School attending a West Virginia college or university pursing a degree in early childhood education.
