Support Access to Fresh, Local Food for All
Many of our neighbors struggle to access food- especially the fresh foods we all need to flourish. Your contributions support the market’s range of fresh food access programs, including Double Dollars, the South Frankfort Food Share, Fresh Rx for pregnant moms with Medicaid.
The Franklin County Farmers Market’s Double Dollars Program helps community members with limited income stretch their food dollars by doubling up to $20 of their SNAP/EBT purchases and up to $12 of their WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program purchases each day they shop at the farmers market.
Community support of the Franklin County Farmers Market’s food access programs like Double Dollars allows the farmers market to increase access to fresh, locally produced foods. These programs also strengthen the local economy by supporting local farmers and bringing more people to the market. A UC Davis study shows that for every dollar of sales, farmers like ours are generating twice as much economic activity within the region, as compared to producers who are not involved in farmers markets. Money spent at the farmers market stays in our community longer. You might say Double Dollars is a double bonus!
