Please support senior cocker spaniel, Dougal!
**Dougal needs your help to live his third act out with the best of care!*
When we rescued Dougal from a Los Angeles county animal shelter, we knew he was a senior but we had no idea the types of medical issues he would be facing.
He had pneumonia, he was extremely thin, his teeth were rotted to the point that there was root showing (ouchie!), and he had entropion which must have felt like sandpaper was scratching his eyes every time he blinked.
This poor sweet cocker spaniel!
So we made our way through Dougal's "to do" list. When he was finally gaining a little weight and healthy enough for his dental and entropion surgery, we learned the reason for his chronic cough. The vet was able to diagnose laryngeal paralysis while Dougal was under anesthesia.
This is a condition that makes a dog prone to aspirate pneumonia. Dougal has just had a second bout of aspirate pneumonia in only a few short months. Because he needs proactive medical attention as soon as he gets pneumonia again, we realize that he may not have much longer to live.
If he is lucky, we are guessing maybe eighteen months? Dougal is happy, he is eating, wagging his tail, he loves his walks, he loves getting treated like a much loved family member in his foster home.
The cost of his ongoing medical management (he gets laser therapy, ozone therapy, acupuncture and lots of supplements to support his body) and the cost of feeding him fresh high quality food (Just Food For Dogs is how he was able to gain weight and get healthier) means Dougal will be on the Camp Cocker payroll for the remainder of his third act.
Would you like to become a monthly sponsor for Dougal? Or maybe make a one time donation?
No donation is too small and it all adds up!
Thank you for your support!
