Newbie senior boy, Beau just had his dental today and needed and NINE extractions!  Ouchie!   

Our vet said that it appeared Beau had never had a dental before in his entire life!  Our guess is Beau has never had any vetting before in his entire life (prior to coming to Camp Cocker Rescue)!

Beau had gone to the cardiologist last Wednesday and the ophthalmologist last Friday.    No heart meds for right now which is great news.    

Beau is on new eye medication to address his extreme dry eye.   He doesn't have glaucoma or cataracts, yaaay!   He simply has blurry vision from the years of no one helping him with his dry eye.   In just a matter of days, his eyes are more comfortable for him to blink (it used to feel like sandpaper scraping his eyes).    He is also getting better vision.   He can't see perfectly, the damage from the dry eye may not be reversible, but what vision he has left is going to be saved because now he will be on eye medication for life.  

Beau is such a gentle soul.  He hasn't complained about what he's been through and he still trusts humans, even after all the neglect.  Oh and he can hear as well!  We thought he was hearing impaired but he can hear some things.     

So good news is - not blind, not deaf, overweight but that can be worked on and he is down nine rotted teeth that were probably painful for him anyway.  Overall, this boy is now in good shape and on his way to learning that this is what life should be like for every dog.  Beau is ready for his forever home now and of course we need donations for this older gent, no amount is too small - we've run up some significant vet bills on him in the last ten days, but he was worth every dollar!
