A few years ago, the community of Panina met with our team in Honduras and shared their need for a kindergarten classroom. By all appearances, the kindergarteners already had a classroom in the main school building, but our Honduran team understood the need. We partnered with a team in the USA who helped raise the funds for the classroom and came to work on its construction, working right alongside members of the community.

Once the kindergarten classroom was completed and the students could move into their new classroom, it opened up a classroom in the main school building. The community members advocated to the local government for a teacher for grades 7-9. (Most students in the rural areas of Honduras complete just the sixth grade because continuing their education means traveling into the city.)

At the beginning of the school year in 2020, 27 students started the 7th grade in a community where only 2-3 students continued their education! That number continues to grow each year.
