The Mission of the Green Mountain Center for Gifted Education, which operates the Talent Development Institute, is affirming, educating, and supporting Vermont’s gifted and talented youth and their families.

We believe that gifted and talented children are…

• Advanced in some aspect of their development, be it intellectual, imaginational, physical, emotional, creative, and/or ethical.
• From all social, ethnic, religious, and economic backgrounds.
• Motivated to learn when they are interested and engaged, and unmotivated when they are not interested and engaged.
• Capable of extraordinary accomplishments when given the optimal balance of support, opportunity, and expectations.
• At risk if their educational and personal needs are not met, and able to soar when these needs are met.

By donating to us, you support our mission and activities, including need-based academic scholarships and advocacy in the public interest. 

In 2024 we offered nearly $6,000 in scholarships to those who may not have otherwise been able to attend TDI. We aim to offer more scholarships this year and to continue to provide a warm and welcoming space where Vermont youth can learn and be themselves.

• Can your employer match your donation? Many companies run matching programs with their employee's contributions. Can yours help us?
• Can you introduce us to people or foundations who might support our work? The most powerful advocates of TDI are those who have benefitted from our programs. We hope you can help us find people who will share our vision
