Donate to support the landscape implementation of the Hasbrouck-Delaware Parklet

We're raising money for the landscape implementation of the Hasbrouck-Delaware Parklet, a small, community-oriented greenspace along the Kingston Greenline in Midtown Kingston. Our goal is to raise $20,000 as a match to a Hudson River Valley Greenway grant awarded to us for this project. This year, we'll kick of the landscape implementation by organizing volunteers to help us install plantings at the site. Plants will be chosen with an emphasis on native and pollinator-friendly varieties and sourced locally.

Background:

The hardscape phase of the Hasbrouck-Delaware Parklet wrapped up in December 2018 and included construction of sidewalks, crosswalks on speed tables, extension of the park area and re-orientation of the roadway intersection, clearing of brush, addition of topsoil, and planting of grass to stabilize the slopes and avoid erosion. We are also working with the City of Kingston to fund a staircase to connect the site to the Kingston Point Rail Trail, near the entrance to the trail's tunnel under the intersection.

This year the Kingston Land Trust looks forward to supporting the community-oriented landscape phase of the project, which will include the installation of plantings and preparations for future amenities envisioned by KaN Landscape Design, who the KLT hired the Hudson River Valley Greenway grant. KaN also donated many additional hours of professional services to the design of the project, along with other members of the Community Design Workgroup of the Kingston Greenline Committee. The Parklet will be a trailhead of the Kingston Greenline, a system of trails, linear parks, and complete streets that when fully developed will better connect residents and visitors to Kingston's natural, historic, cultural and commercial assets. The Kingston Greenline is a joint initiative of the Kingston Land Trust, City of Kingston, and Ulster County.
