Goal

"Voices for Choice: Understanding Thai Public Opinion on Abortion Rights Through Polling", by Tamtang Foundation x Lake Research Partners x Engage Thailand, is a project to survey public understanding and attitudes toward abortion in Thailand. It will be the first nationwide poll on the topic, providing a foundational evidence base for future advocacy to shift societal attitudes.

Tamtang Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Bangkok, Thailand, led by women with abortion experiences and LBI+ individuals. For over 13 years, Tamtang has been at the forefront of advocating for safe abortion rights and expanding access to services across the country. In 2019-2021, we were part of a civil movement campaigning for abortion law reform and won the abortion legalization in February 2021. We also successfully encouraged Thailand’s National Health Security Office and Social Security Office to offer free abortion-related services for Thai citizens and migrant workers.

The organization focuses on 4 key areas: 1) providing non-judgmental abortion counseling and referrals nationwide and partially in Southeast Asia, 2) actively pushing for progressive legal reform, 3) challenging abortion stigma and raising public awareness through campaigns, and 4) strengthening feminist and pro-democracy movements.
