The dolphin runner
I’m a Consultant Anaesthetist in the NHS and Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Exeter, running to raise funds for CPDmatch — a not-for-profit, healthcare education platform focused on climate and environmental (including ocean) health.
Climate change is already affecting patient health, but most clinicians still don’t receive structured education in this area.
CPDmatch exists to change that - initially across the healthcare sector but eventually, across other industries too.
What your donation does
Your support will help us develop CPDmatch, expanding free climate–health learning for all healthcare professionals; supporting clinicians globally to better understand and respond to environmental health impacts. CPDmatch is independent and funded through grants, sponsorship and donations.
Why running
The Dolphin Runner uses physical endurance to make climate–health education visible in the real world — turning awareness into action. The funding helps us develop the tools to educate and use the trusted voice of healthcare to inspire action.
Why a dolphin - because it's unexpected to see a dolphin at so many running events and through parkrun, I can be visible and reach hundreds of people every week.
When people ask me why, I can then explain a little about our need for a healthy ocean in whatever we are doing, even running.
And, as a bonus, the dolphin makes people smile
Support the challenge
Every donation directly supports the development of CPDmatch with all work undertaken in house by a small group of enthusiasts. If you too believe education is one of the most powerful tools for change, please consider supporting this work.
Thank you for helping us turn awareness into action.
