Dokusan
Interview with a lineage holder is called Dokusan. In these meetings both individuals are asked to bring their deepest insight with the sincere intention of sharing their understanding of these teachings. This special kind of meeting with a teacher can be extremely effective at clarifying understanding. Mutual realization - true awakening - is possible for all of us when we are ready and willing for it to occur. Mind to Mind, heart to heart, being to being.
The Eastern custom of dana (giving generously) directly involves the community, who respond by giving buddhist monks money and food to t survive and continue teaching. In the East, such giving and receiving is woven into the collective-focused culture. In the west, we support the teachings and the teachers through dana gifts.
