Goal
We are raising funds to continue infrastructure development at the Zucigim, a landback food justice project on the San Mateo Coast. The Deep Medicine Circle (DMC) is a WOC-led, collaborative nonprofit working at the Zucigim Farm to reimagine land use and agriculture in a way that advances racial, climate, health and economic justice goals.
This farm is located just a few steps away from where Portola landed and began his brutal conquest of what is now called the San Francisco peninsula. It is Ohlone territory and the DMC is supporting the land return to Indigenous community, for the purpose of healing the land and the connection of the people to the land. We are farming a small part of the land to facilitate the land return process and to support community health in Ohlone territory.
Over the past 3 years, we have moved the fields from fallow into production, harvesting and delivering over 1000 lbs of organic produce/week to our partners in San Francisco, in Half Moon Bay and Pescadero to distribute at no cost to people experiencing food insecurity.
These funds will be used to continue to support our infrastructural development and our food systems work.
Your donation is tax-deductible! We are thrilled to be doing this work which we believe is the future of land management and agriculture in these lands.
Our funders nclude the 11th Hour Foundation, Tides Foundation, Panta Rhea Foundation, Cris Mulvey and Jack Kuehn, Sally Calhoun, the Kataly Foundation, Metabolic Studio, and Jodie Evans, other local groups. Add your name to this growing list of supporters!
