Rank and File Railroad Machinists Reece Murtagh & Marty Rosato are challenging for the President and Secretary/Treasurer Positions in Machinists Union District Lodge 19. This election is being re-run and supervised by the Department of Labor.
On May 3 2024 approximately 7500 (IAM) Railroad Machinists across the country will vote on new union leadership. Reece Murtagh who is a 13 year member and heavy equipment mechanic is running for President. Marty Rosato an 18 year member and Locomotive Mechanic is running for Secretary Treasurer. Our Union sold out & betrayed the membership when they disregarded our vote to strike during the last freight rail contract. Over the past 8 years we have lost 48% of our membership (6635 jobs). The National Freight Rail contract barely keeps up with inflation. District Lodge 19 is in bad need of overhaul. The incumbent union officers can't fulfill the most basic duty of their jobs. Running a fair union election. These officers treat the Union like private property. Their inability to faithfully fulfill their obligations as Union Officers and run a fair democratic election process is ultimately why the Department of Labor is now involved.
There is no substitute for strong, democratic unions to defend workers' standard of living, their safety on the job and their working conditions. Your donation will help us inject some much needed union democracy into Machinists District Lodge 19.
It's time to put the power back in the Rank and File members! This is our chance to take back control of our Union and transform it into a fighting union that puts members first. We need your help finishing strong. Your donation will allow us to send campaign literature and help cover travel expenses.
***This fundraiser is only accepting donations from IAMAW (Machinist) Union Members.
