Disaster relief in Cebu City

Devastating news have reached us of typhoon Odette that swept through the central Philippines - causing death, widespread damage and destruction in an area, where people are already starving. 

This would typically be the week we would return from our annual humanitarian trip to Rise Above Foundation Cebu. Due to Covid, we have have had to cancel our trip for the second year in a row. But this Christmas, they need our help more than ever, as the houses of the poorest in Sambag Dos have been completely destroyed. At the moment, we don't even know if the Sambag II families are safe, due to electricity and water having cut off.

The below photos have been taken from the roof of the Rise Above Community Center. 11.000 people live in this area. 50% are between 0-19 years old - they don't have anything but themselves and their families.

The Rise Above foundation is doing what they can do help - but they need money to do so. Every single bit of support is massively appreciated!

Dies wäre normalerweise die Woche, in der wir von unserer jährlichen humanitären Reise nach Cebu zurückkehren würden. Aufgrund von Covid mussten wir unsere Reise bereits das zweite Jahr in Folge absagen. Aber dieses Weihnachten brauchen sie unsere Hilfe mehr denn je..

Uns haben Nachrichten über die verheerenden Zerstörungen und das Leid des Taifun Odette erreicht — in einer Gegend, in der die Menschen bereits hungern. 11.000 Menschen leben in dieser Sambag Dos, 50% sind zwischen 0-19 Jahre alt.. Die Häuser der Ärmsten wurden durch den Taifun komplett zerstört. Derzeit wissen wir nicht, wie es den Familien in Sambag II geht, da Strom und Wasser komplett ausgefallen sind.

Die Organisation Rise Above, mit der wir zusammen arbeiten tun, was sie tun kann, um zu helfen - aber sie brauchen dafür Geld. Ich versuche selbst mein Bestes, um nach Cebu zu kommen und selbst vor Ort Katastrophenhilfe mit zu leisten. Jede einzelne Unterstützung wird sehr geschätzt - die Kinder und ihre Familien liegen uns sehr am Herzen.
