Dike-Newell is a pre-K through 2nd grade school in Bath, Maine. During the evening of Friday, June 10th, an arsonist set fire to several locations in the building resulting in the loss of nearly all the materials and furniture in the building, as well as significant damage to the structure itself. As the school district and leadership team works to plan for the coming year, we gratefully thank everyone who has reached out to offer support and donations.
We have said, and continue to say, that a school is much more than a building - it is the community of caring that is established among staff, students, and families. While our building is burned, our school community remains strong and resilient. The outreach of individuals and groups around the country has been a beautiful expression of the power of community, and we appreciate each and every message of support.

I attended Newell School the first year it was built. We started late as construction was not complete so we went on Saturdays for some time. I went on to a long career in education. My thoughts are with you all in the school community. Your resilience is amazing. Have a great year!
