Main Clinic + Mobile Clinic = Two Clinics during the same trip.
** This trip is now full unless you are a licensed medical or dental professional. **
** We still need two more DDS or RDH's and one more MD or PA or RNP **
Upon arrival in San Quintin, the medical / dental team is divided into 2 groups, one group stays at the "base clinic", and the mobile team goes out to a more remote location, typically about a 30-60 minute drive away by vans.
Both sites are combined medical and dental clinics.
The "base clinic" has three dental chairs plus a fourth chair that can be set up under a patio.
The "mobile clinic" has up to five chairs, using high quality portable dental equipment and digital x-rays.
The medical teams set up adjacent to the dental teams. It is common for a few people from the medical team to go out with Angelia, a local nurse (and our medical laison) to make house calls to care for people who are unable to leave their homes.
Both sites are hosted by local churches that serve and reach those in need who live in the San Quintin Valley, with a focus on the migrant farm worker population. These churches host the clinics and prepare for us to come. We are their guests and a part of their efforts to serve and reach those with the greatest needs. The clinics are at no cost to those receiving the care.
Doctors and Dentists from Mexico typically join us and serve alongside of us. It's a wonderful time of genuine partnership.

Space is VERY LIMITED. Typically we max out at 30 people depending on how many planes and pilots are available. Sometimes we have volunteers drive down.
The flight is in a small 4 - 8 seat airplane and takes about 2 hours total in the air.
Southbound the 2 hour flight time is broken into 2 legs.
Northbound it is broken into 3 legs.
The drive takes 7-10 hours southbound from San Gabriel Valley (Los Angeles area), and 10-15 hours to return depending on boarder crossing delays, traffic, and the need to make an additional meal stop.
If you drive, the total cost of the trip is reduced by $125.
(Note: some people enjoy the drive and sometimes go down a day or two early. If you are interested in driving, either as a driver or as a passenger, please let us know.)
If you are signing up and driving down, simply deduct $125 from the trip fees and pay using the "other amount" option.
Additionally, you always have the option to make your own arrangements for accommodations and meals, etc. and "meet us down there". Please note, some of meals we eat together are prepared by the host church, so we do need a "head count" at two weeks before the trip so they can prepare for us.
Accommodations: Hotel or Dorm Options
The dorm (and church and Pastor Joel's home) is located at the main dental clinic site with hot showers and private bathrooms. Men and women sleep in different rooms on bunk beds.
We typically stay at Hotel Villa which is about 3 miles from the main clinic. Ground transportation is provided at no extra cost. Single or double rooms are available.
A current passport book is required if you fly.
A current passport card or book is required if you drive.
A $25 non-refundable deposit will hold your spot, which is important as the airplane seats fill up FAST.
Exactly 4 weeks prior to the day of departure, final payment is due. If final payment is not received, your spot will become available to someone else on the waiting list.
The price includes:
- round-trip shared fuel cost for the flight (if you drive, the total cost of the trip is reduced by $125)
- hotel or dorm (see corresponding price difference)
- all meals that we eat as a group
- traveler's insurance
- bottled drinking water
- ground transportation
The price does not include:
- Visa Fee (for those who fly) It costs approximately $30 to enter and $7 to exit (bring cash and small bills)
- meals at a restaurant ($5 - $12 per meal)
- extra snacks or personal items
Half off scholarships are available!
Through generous donors, half off scholarships are available for full or part-time students, those in financial need, and / or additional family members.
For example, if you have a family of four and all four would all like to come, then the first person will pay the full price, and the other three family members would be half off. Now, if there is still financial need, then all 4 family members could request the scholarship for half off.
Scholarship application deadline: exactly 4 weeks before the trip.
The scholarship application is quick and easy. Please check it out!
