Alongside farmers interested in experimentation, Del Fuego is building a space (affectionately named the Exploration Station), to foster creativity and experimentation of novel coffee processing techniques in smallholder communities. We’re combining our ongoing research in Yepocapa, Guatemala, with the opportunity for roasters to gain early access to novel coffees that support both The Del Fuego Project’s education efforts (which span the supply chain), and long term small-holder knowledge gain. You're invited to come along for the ride! There are two main ways to support these efforts:

1) By direct donation towards construction, development, and management of the Exploration Station, and

2) Speak with us about how you can secure access to the experimental, educational, fun coffees!

F.A.Q

Why should I care about this fundraiser?

  • It directly supports smallholder entry into specialty coffee.
  • It provides an opportunity to get in at the ground level of a project that will truly build capacity and provide educational opportunities for every point in the value chain.
  • It gives an entry to learning about production, processing, and smallholder systems for everyone involved.

What is the timeline for the project/activity/event the funds will support?

  • December 13th 2021 construction will begin.
  • By August 2022 the first five experimental coffees will all be distributed.
  • Use of Station will be ongoing into the future.

Can I get involved in another way?

  • Absolutely! Come down and swing a hammer, run some plumbing, or create some (hopefully small) sparks as we build the station.
  • Purchase some of the experimental coffees produced by the station. They are a great opportunity to try something novel, and build your cupping skills against a reference coffee.
