Goal
Three Palestine solidarity groups in Germany are taking legal action against the domestic intelligence service. Support their fight.
Germany's domestic intelligence service (Verfassungsschutz) is surveilling Palestine solidarity groups and labelling them as extremist threats. The ELSC is representing three groups - Thawra Hamburg, Jewish Voice for a Just Peace, and BDS Berlin - in legal challenges against the Verfassungsschutz.
The cases
The ELSC is representing three groups facing surveillance and listing by the Verfassungsschutz and the public campaign launched last week.
Jewish Voice for a Just Peace (Jüdische Stimme), an association advocating for Palestinian rights for over two decades, has now been labelled an extremist threat. Their alleged crimes include raising awareness on Nakba Day and calling for full equal rights for Palestinians.
BDS Berlin is also taking legal action against the Verfassungsschutz.
In January, the Hamburg Administrative Court ordered the intelligence service to immediately suspend the surveillance of Thawra Hamburg, finding that the measures against the group were potentially violating fundamental constitutional rights.
This was an important ruling, and we are now expanding this fight. April 27 will be the first hearing for Jewish Voice for a Just Peace – your support is needed now.
Why this matters
Being listed by the Verfassungsschutz has devastating consequences: resulting in denied citizenship applications, restricted movement, threatened residency, and cancelled events.
