Day of Giving 2025

                The Forest History Society is teaming up with the Society of American Foresters to help them celebrate their 125^th anniversary! As organizations we are tied together through history. In fact, the FHS is home to the SAF archival records. FHS was selected as the permanent repository for the historical records of SAF in 1965. Since that time nearly 500 boxes of materials have been sent to FHS, making the SAF Records our second-largest archival collection.

This year, during our Matching Gift Campaign, we are honored to help celebrate the anniversary with an exciting webinar: “Our Forests, Our Future: The History of the Society of American Foresters” SAF has published a collection of essays that look at the many facets of the organization’s history, impact, and legacy in the new book Our Forests, Our Future: Honoring the Past, Engaging the Present, and Leading to the Future. Join historian Char Miller, the book’s editor and a contributor, and FHS historian Jamie Lewis for a discussion about the book and of SAF’s history and future. 

During our Matching Gift Campaign,  your gift to the Forest History Society will be doubled – making twice the impact – helping to ensure that invaluable historic archival collections like the SAF and others are preserved and made available for research and reference – making a lasting impact on forestry for the future!
