Dar al Salam

Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim. Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh, dear brothers and sisters.

Twenty Years. One Hundred Square Metres.

For twenty years, the Muslim community of Lugano, Switzerland, has prayed in a rented room on Via Bottogno. One hundred square metres — behind a door the city barely knows exists.

In those twenty years, we have paid over CHF 400,000 in rent. Money that left the community month after month, with nothing left behind. Our children learned their first alif-ba in that room. We broke our fast together in Ramadan. We prayed Janazah for brothers and sisters who returned to Allah. All of it — in one hundred square metres of borrowed space.

Alhamdulillah — A Door Has Opened

This year, Allah opened a door for us.

In Pregassona, Lugano, we have found our parcel. Via Ceresio 53B. A land that will become Dar al-Salam — the House of Peace.

The project, designed by Beier Cabrini Architetti, will include a main prayer hall for 500 people, a daily prayer room for the five daily prayers, our Quran school El Nur, a community office, and six residential apartments — whose rental income will sustain the centre for generations, without depending on public subsidies or recurring foreign funds.

One Deadline. One Goal.

We need to raise CHF 940,360 by 15 September 2026 to complete the land purchase and secure the building permits.

Thanks to the generosity of brothers and sisters who have already given, CHF 421,400 is already covered.

The gap is CHF 940,360. The deadline is real. If we don't close by September, we risk losing the parcel.

Your Donation Is Sadaqa Jariya — Forever

The Prophet ﷺ said:

"When a person dies, all their deeds come to an end except three: a sadaqa jariya, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who makes du'a for them." (Muslim)

Every time a child reads the Quran in Dar al-Salam, every time a brother prays Tarawih, every time a sister in difficulty finds support — your deed continues. Your name is written in an act that does not end.

You can also give in the name of a loved one who has passed. We will hold their name in our du'a at the opening of the centre.
