Goal
Join Drylands Agroecology Research & Yellow Barn Farm a mission to plant 10,000 trees at the 100-acre property, now DAR's largest demonstration site for their regenerative design practices.
In 2020, the Calwood fire burned the entire hillside of Mountain Ridge, a neighborhood abutting the Yellow Barn. Many homes were destroyed in the fire, and the flames came within 5 feet of the first burnable structure on the farm before the wind changed direction, ripping it north across the backside of the property and jumping across Hwy 36.
The heart of the farm was spared, and since then, the DAR & YBF teams have joined forces and planted 3,500 trees in the first spring of 2021, then an additional 5,000 trees this most recent spring of 2022. A total of 8,500 planted so far!
This fund is open to anyone and everyone looking to make even the smallest change to help restore our planet, starting right here in Boulder, CO.
A tree planted costs our team $25. We aim to plant 10,000 total trees in the next 1-2 years. The trees act as wind breaks, fire suppressants, and ecosystem restorations by holding water and regenerating the soil.
The final 1,500 trees x $25/tree = $37,500.
The use of animals in rotational grazing patterns helps to keep the grasslands from getting too long and dried out by the fall, and their hooves and defecation help to fertilize the soil for slow and steady regeneration.
Consider support this beautiful project, and when we have future tree plantings, please come by the farm to plant your own tree on the land!
We greatly thank you for all your support!
