When I grow up I want to be...a nurse

“T-Daphne,” as the kids like to call her, has a quiet, mysterious way about her. She doesn’t reveal everything all at once—you have to spend time with her to really get to know her—but when she lets you in, it feels like a treasure. She and her sister, Rodeline, came to Emmanuel in 2016 after their mother was tragically gunned down. We remember that moment so clearly. We were already over budget and unsure how we could possibly take in more children. But Papa Maurancy didn’t hesitate. He said, “We will take them. God will provide.” And He did. Now, we can’t imagine our home without them.

T-Daphne enjoys singing, dancing, and joining everyone for movie nights. In recent years, she’s been learning to take on more responsibility—especially sweeping and mopping floors—and she does it with determination. For a long time, she stayed away from cameras, preferring to watch from the sidelines. But little by little, she’s been stepping forward—becoming more social, more confident, and more comfortable in her own skin. She has a spark that’s all her own, and we pray she continues to channel her energy into the beautiful future God has planned for her.

By becoming her sponsor, you’ll be giving her the confidence, love, and support she needs to truly thrive. She longs for someone or something meaningful to motivate and inspire her—and that someone could be you. We also pray that through this journey she will grow in her relationship with God, finding strength and purpose in Him.
