Help me fundraise for the Union Cultural Center! 

The Union Cultural Center (UCC) is an integral part of my life in Seattle and the greater Pacific Northwest.  I am invested in the success of the UCC because it provides a vital 'third' space grounded in conviviality often expressed through the shared practice of participatory arts. As a capoeirista and musician, I believe in the transformative potential for arts and culture to connect each other across difference and contribute to our overall health and well-being. 

The UCC is a community hub for a network of teaching artists, culture workers, and students. In order to help keep the doors open and the lights on, I am participating in their first annual Dance-a-thon friendraiser! (More information about that below)

Event Overview

Join us on Saturday, November 22, for UCC’s Dance-a-Thon Fundraiser, a full day of movement, music, and community connection! 

Experience back-to-back classes led by our incredible teaching artists, beginning at 10 AM. Each class offers a unique style, celebrating the diverse traditions that make UCC a cultural home for so many.

Grab an all-day pass with party access, or sign up for one or two classes. Every pass helps sustain our programs and community space.

If you can’t join us in person, you can still support by making a donation in any amount that feels right for you. We can’t wait to move, dance, and celebrate together!

Fundraising Goal

This event also serves as a vital fundraiser for UCC, with a goal of $5,000 to help sustain our programs and community space. 

Thanks to our generous Board, the first $2,000 raised will be matched dollar-for-dollar, doubling your impact.

• 10:00am - Wing Chun With Darren Lam
• 11:30am - West African Dance with Manimou Camara
• 1:00pm - Capoeira with Mestre Sivinho
• 2:30pm - Bomba with Otoqui Reyes
• 4:00pm - Samba with Deise Costa 
• 5:30pm - Cumbia with Adri Tapia-Gomez 
• 7:00pm - Dinner featuring Indigenous Chef Jason Vickers from Natoncks Metsu 
• 8:00pm - Award Ceremony
• 8:30pm - Cuban Salsa w/Takechi Ruiz
• 9:00-11:00pm - Salsa Party!
