Hello friends, family, and community! The Union Cultural Center - UCC - is home to where I practice Capoeira Angola. I first connected with this community over 15 years ago. Capoeira and the UCC has been a meaningful part of my life and I have learned and grown in this community. 

I'm excited to invite you to dance, celebrate and contribute to our upcoming Dance-A-Thon! I'm hoping you can help me reach my goal of raising $750. I would be really excited to see you at this joyful, full-day, family-friendly event of dancing, sharing a meal, and connecting. Feel welcome to bring your children, friends, and come for any amount of time. For those that are far away or unable to attend, I would really appreciate your contribution to help me reach my goal. 

UCC's mission is to build an inclusive community through cultural arts to heal and cultivate positive change. Their vision is an interconnected community where all individuals feel a sense of belonging and inpowered* to develop their most authentic selfs.

Event Overview

Join us on Saturday, November 22, for UCC’s Dance-a-Thon Fundraiser, a full day of movement, music, and community connection! 

Experience back-to-back classes led by our incredible teaching artists, beginning at 10 AM. Each class offers a unique style, celebrating the diverse traditions that make UCC a cultural home for so many.

Grab an all-day pass with party access, or sign up for one or two classes. Every pass helps sustain our programs and community space.

If you can’t join us in person, you can still support by making a donation in any amount that feels right for you. We can’t wait to move, dance, and celebrate together!

Fundraising Goal

This event also serves as a vital fundraiser for UCC, with a goal of $5,000 to help sustain our programs and community space. 

Thanks to our generous Board, the first $2,000 raised will be matched dollar-for-dollar, doubling your impact.

• 11:30am - West African Dance with Manimou Camara
• 1:00pm - Capoeira with Mestre Sivinho
• 2:30pm - Bomba with Otoqui Reyes
• 4:00pm - Samba with Deise Costa 
• 5:30pm - Cumbia with Adri Tapia-Gomez 
• 7:00pm - Dinner featuring Indigenous Chef Jason Vickers from Natoncks Metsu 
• 8:00pm - Award Ceremony
• 8:30pm - Cuban Salsa w/Takechi Ruiz
• 9:00-11:00pm - Salsa Party!
