Goal

We believe mother and baby deserve the best and, when your child is about to enter the world, you want to know exactly what’s going on. To support our staff in offering the best possible maternity care, we’re raising funds to upgrade machines that monitor a baby’s heartbeat before birth.

These new CTG machines use the most advanced technology available, helping our maternity teams spot signs of distress early, especially in high-risk pregnancies. With clearer, more accurate information, we can make faster decisions and give every baby the best chance of a safe and healthy start.

The new devices we're aiming to purchase feature the latest version of the world-renowned Dawes-Redman analysis system, a breakthrough in foetal heart monitoring. This advanced technology uses powerful algorithms and larger data sets to provide a more accurate, objective assessment of a baby’s wellbeing. It helps interpretation, improving clinical decision-making and ultimately saving lives.

Every year, around 4,500 babies are born at Hampshire Hospitals and approximately 80% of expectant mothers will undergo CTG monitoring at least once during their pregnancy. Upgrading our machines means earlier detection of potential problems like low oxygen levels, leading to faster, more accurate interventions.

By purchasing five high-spec CTG machines, we can reduce wait times, improve the overall patient experience, and enhance safety across the service.
