Carver-Scott Humane Society was founded in 1989 for the purpose of finding homes for unwanted dogs, puppies, cats and kittens. Since our founding, we have grown to rescue and rehome over 400 companion animals every year. Our organization helps animals and families in the west metro of the Twin Cities with a focus on Carver, Scott and Hennepin Counties. All of our dogs stay in foster care until we match them with their permanent homes. Our cats stay in foster care as well as the Cat Adoption Center, opened in February of 2016.
Over the years, we have grown from a small group of animal lovers, to an organization with over 70 volunteer positions. Our mission is to connect animals in need with people who care. Today, we have an Executive Director that works in collaboration with our Board of Directors. We have an Animal Care Team that manages our dog, cat and Trap Neuter Return programs. Our Office Manager works with our Cat Adoption Center Coordinator, cat care team and reception volunteers to ensure that everyone who enters our doors has a positive and welcoming experience. In late 2016 we rolled out our newest program, “Fur Keeps”, designed to prevent families from having to surrender their pets. We also have an active Advancement team, who work hard to raise awareness about Carver Scott Humane Society in the communities we serve, while raising funds to keep our organization financially sound.
If you’re interested in joining our group, we are always looking for volunteers. Visit our volunteer page to learn about opportunities with us.
