By supporting our long-term partner, the Crecemos community-based organization in Oaxaca, Mexico, we are affirming the “right to remain” in front of the allure of migration to the north. For over 25 years, the volunteers, staff and supporters around the world, including many friends in the United States, have been deeply engaged in keeping the doors of Crecemos open even in the midst of extreme poverty, violence, low employment and the constant background noise of perceived opportunity across the border.

Donations will contribute to:

Nutrition programs including daily meals, nutrition education for children and families and nutrition screening in response to the dual burden of hunger and obesity caused by poor dietary habits and limited access to fresh fruits and vegetables
Academic enrichment programs which enhance the quality of education received, filling in gaps of the education system which is fraught with corruption and low standards
Family counseling to address issues such as drug and alcohol addiction, child neglect and domestic violence, which all in some way or another stem from poverty and marginalization
Sports and the Arts which provide opportunities for physical and creative expression and expose young people to worlds outside of the slums.
