Found in Houston’s Corridor of Cruelty, Balder’s situation was grim—he had a 9mm bullet lodged dangerously close to his spine, leaving his back legs paralyzed. Instead of walking, he dragged his body in an attempt to survive. But thanks to Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists, he received immediate hospitalization, and our team set him on an intensive path to recovery.

Balder’s spirit was unstoppable. With a wheelchair donated by Gunnar's Wheels, he was determined to reclaim his independence. He pushed through months of rehab, moving from a diaper and assisted care to walking, and eventually, running on his own!

Balder’s perseverance was rewarded when a family from Lubbock drove 15 hours roundtrip to bring him into their home, where he now thrives alongside his two husky siblings. His journey is a testament to resilience and hope—a reminder that, with help, any dog can find a fresh start.
