SUMATRA COVID-19 HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAM
We have a window of opportunity to save lives
The terrible Coronavirus has not yet reached rural areas in North Sumatra – but it is coming. It’s in the capital city of Medan and the nearby townships, and it’s just a matter of time before jungle edge communities are hit. With no hospitals and limited medical facilities – we must act now and do everything possible to keep the virus at bay.
Our best chance is soap + and education. So that’s what we’re doing. And we would be so grateful if you’d help!
We have a team of volunteers ready to go door-to-door to teach local communities about the Coronavirus, and how to protect their families by washing their hands properly, and social distancing.
We’ll provide each household we visit with soap and a small supply of information flyers to share with their wider family so they can spread the message – not the disease. We’ll also make banners with this same information and display them in public places.
It is ridiculously inexpensive to provide this support. For every $200 we raise we can provide 200 households (that’s 800 to 1000 people!) with soap and life-saving education. And that figure will grow as information ripples out through extended families.
This incredibly simple but effective approach gives people living in rural communities, with limited access to information and medical treatment, a fighting chance during this Coronavirus pandemic.
