Coronado For Mayor
- Israel Coronado For Mayor of Mercedes.
For those who do not know who I am I look forward to meeting you and having the necessary discussions on how to improve our city of Mercedes, TX.
One of the common questions I am asked is if I am from Mercedes. The answer is complex.
I was born in Brownsville, Texas, raised in Mexico until the age of 10 and came back to the United States. I finished the last part of my childhood in Brownsville graduating from James Pace High School In 2001.
Immediately after graduation I enrolled at the University of Texas- PanAm where I completed a Bachelors of Science in Nursing as well as Two associates from South Texas College. One in Biology and a second in Chemistry. After working in different hospitals in our region caring for critical care patients from Brownsville to McAllen for almost three years I was accepted into the Graduate Nurse Anesthesia Program In Fort Worth Texas. During this time I took the dual challenge of both seeking my Masters and following my duty to country in joining the Army Reserves.
After graduating with a Master of Science in Nursing in Nursing Anesthesia in 2011 I became board certified and continued serving the needs of my patients in the Rio Grande Valley. A few years after I was honorably discharged from the US ARMY as a 1st Lieutenant.
For the last 17 years my family and I have called this community our home. We first chose to live in Mercedes before the lines of the city were shifted and Weslaco took over the jurisdiction of the Las Brisas Community. We currently live in the area commonly known as WesMer. Many of the families in our area have Weslaco addresses but are undeniably taxpayers and residents of the City of Mercedes.
Over the last couple of years I have been a witness to the decline and neglect our communities have endured. After the floods of 2018 and 2019 this prompted me to take action by starting a number of social media forums where our community could become aware of the issues at hand and give everyone an opportunity to voice concerns so that those willing to get involved could search for meaningful solutions and get the results we desperately needed.
When I saw that the ideas to improve our community fell in the leaderships deaf ears I had to take action.
I invite you to check out the work we have done over the last couple of years on the different platforms. Mercedes Will Drain Again and Make Weslaco Drain Again.
I care about the community. Many who have been part of this journey from its inception know this. I live in this city regardless of where I come from or where I was born. I chose this city as my own. I am here now and this is my hometown where my wife and I have made the conscious decision to raise our children and invest in for our future. We see the potential our city has.
For those who question why I wanted to run for Mayor... I do not want to run...I had to. I had to step in this race because the needs for our community were just too many. It is this sense of duty that drives this campaign. A duty that long has been forgotten by past leaders who have failed us and has sparked the desire to build A New Mercedes.
I will not ask you to vote for me
I will not ask you to trust me.
Instead...
I ask you to Vote.
I ask you to keep me accountable by getting involved.
Together we can achieve the results we desperately need.
