In 2014, UNESCO reported that if the current pace continues, the last girl living in poverty could be enrolled in school by 2086.
EDU-GIRLS works to create educational opportunities for impoverished girls who are living in challenging urban conditions.
We help our girls break through socioeconomic barriers to achieve financial independence. Over the next decade, we want to put a million cracks in the glass ceiling of entrenched urban poverty.
As more people move to cities, the number of people living in 'slums' increases. Children born in such extreme poverty deserve a fighting chance – and that starts with education.
However, impoverished families often keep their girls at home, where they take on chores and caretaking responsibilities while their parents try to earn a living.
These families cannot afford the costs of fees, books, and uniforms, much less the spare time required for their daughter to receive the education and job preparation she deserves. And even if their daughter completes school, there is no guarantee of a job with a reasonable income.
Let's change that. Give a monthly donation to become a partner for girls' education.
