Con Tìm Mẹ (translated as “Child Searching for Mother”) is an adoptee-led nonprofit organization dedicated to reuniting families separated by adoption during the Vietnam War.


Mission & Purpose

Con Tìm Mẹ’s mission is to:

  • Reconnect Vietnamese adoptees—especially those adopted during or after the Vietnam War—with their biological families.
  • Recover lost histories, identities, and relationships disrupted by war and adoption.
  • Provide a safe, culturally informed, and accessible platform for family reunification.

  1. Family Search Services:

    • For adoptees, birth families, and adoptive parents.
    • Includes online registration, confidential outreach, and personalized case support.
  2. DNA Matching:

    • Offers free DNA kits and matching services for biological families.
    • Maintains a DNA database to facilitate matches.
  3. Databases:

    • Adoptee Database: For individuals seeking their birth families.
    • Family Database: For Vietnamese families searching for lost children.
  4. Expert Support:

    • Case reviews and matching by experienced volunteers.
    • Emotional and logistical support throughout the search process.

Ethics & Accessibility

  • No fees for Vietnamese birth families.
  • Donation-based model:
    • Suggested donation of $25 for DNA database inclusion.
    • $200 suggested for a full search with personalized support.
  • Privacy-focused: All data is handled confidentially and ethically.
