Goal
Hello family and friends💗
Our daughter Peyton, a happy 16-year-old navigating the complexities of ATP6V1A, inspires all us every day with her strength, joy, and her smile. ATP6V1A is one of the genes that is part of a larger complex called v-ATPase and a mutation in most v-ATPase genes has severe health consequences. Understanding this ultra-rare genetic disorder, which affects everything from her development to her mobility, is paramount!
The science behind hope🧬🔬: One of the most powerful tools in rare disease research is the creation of cell lines – essentially, living samples of Peyton's cells grown in a lab. These invaluable resources allow researchers to study the disease at a fundamental level, test potential drugs, develop targeted therapies and ultimately give an answer and a cure. As her mom, I'm turning hope into action! However, generating and maintaining these cell lines is a costly process. Each line costs roughly $10,000 to produce.
That's why I'm dedicating my marathon run on June 21st to raising $1,000. These funds will directly support the creation of the cell lines for research, bringing us closer to understanding and treating Peyton’s disease. Every step I take and every dollar raised brings hope to Peyton and all of the other v-ATPase-related families. Please consider supporting my run and this vital research, even share this campaign with those you know so that we can reach our goal and bring awareness. As always, thank you for your support! Run on 🏃🏼♀️
