Committee to Elect Tony Economou - Worcester City Councilor At-Large
Tony Economou is a lifelong Worcester resident. He has always had a personal and deep affection for the City he calls home. Educated in the Worcester Public Schools, Tony has been self-employed since the age of 20 and understands the benefits and challenges of operating a small business.
As real estate broker for 21 years in the Worcester area, Tony has helped many families, couples and individuals with their real estate needs. His extensive knowledge of our neighborhoods and trends in the real estate market is valuable to his customer as well as providing a powerful asset when serving our city in an elected capacity.
As a committed member of our local community, Tony has always been engaged and ready to help, volunteering for organizations that help our youth, those in need, our neighborhoods and business community for his entire adult life.
Tony served as Worcester’s District 1 City Councilor for three terms, from 2011 through 2017. During that time, he took special pride in constituent service.
Tony's success as a three term District Councilor included:
· Over $5 million in park improvements ad beautification projects across District 1.
· Ensured that Nelson Place School was replaced with a state of the art facility with the most advanced technology for our children to thrive.
· Supported over $43 million in accelerated repair projects for schools across the city.
· Has voted for the Elderly Tax Exemption.
· Voted in favor of giving the City Manager the opportunity to begin negotiations with the Pawtucket Red Sox.
Representing you as an At-Large Councilor, Tony’s goals include:
· Advocating for the replacement of Doherty High School, East Middle School and Burncoat Middle/High School.
An excellent education system is essential not only to ensure that our students become successful adults but also instrumental in producing a desirable workforce that attracts businesses and strengthens our neighborhoods.
· Working off the success of our rapidly growing downtown to bring the same success and vibrancy to our neighborhood business districts.
· Voting for the Elderly Tax Exemption.
· Continuing to work to improve our parks and waterways to ensure that they all rise to the level that our residents and visitors deserve.
Tony has a proven record of listening to both sides and making informed decisions for the benefit of our residents, businesses and city. He has consistently demonstrated his ability to be the voice of reason at City Hall.
His experience and commitment ensure that he will be ready to work on day 1 as your City Councilor At-Large.
