Please support the well-being of our seniors and donate today
Vulnerable seniors are at the greatest risk amid COVID-19. Today, their risk has never been higher, their need for food has never been greater, and their stress and isolation has never been more pronounced. Coastal Seniors’ Meals on Wheels program is on the front lines providing needed nutrition and wellness checks. Our goal is to make sure that every day the food is made, packed, and delivered. While we are not opening doors now, we’re doing our best to make sure people are seen and safe. And, our staff continues to support our clients by phone and answer their questions and support their needs beyond food.
Since the COVID-19 stay at home order went into effect, requests for home-delivered meals have increased 150% and we expanded our service area to include Timber Cove and the Stewarts Point Rancheria. We are now producing and delivering more than 1,700 meals each month.
The financial impact of COVID-19 on Coastal Seniors is significant. In response to the crisis we canceled our March for Meals 5k Walk which is our 2nd largest fundraiser each year and we have also canceled our monthly fundraising dinners.
We cannot wait months for the stimulus package funding to trickle down. Despite our operational reserves, if we don’t replace the nearly $35,000 in funding that we have lost AND raise funds for increased service and associated costs, we are at risk of not being able to continue our mission.
