San Francisco Black Community Matters is a nondiscriminatory subscription-based organization. All who embrace our mission, values, and vision are welcome to join us regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, age, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, veteran status, or any other characteristic.
We are organizing this social network to include allies in common causes that address the concerns of San Francisco’s Black Community Matters.
We are dedicated and committed to increasing Black presence, participation, and visibility in the San Francisco community through civic engagement.
We are organizing to help rebuild Black businesses, provide learning opportunities, and promote black-centered achievements and community events.
San Francisco’s Black and African American representation has declined to approximately 3% of the city’s population of nearly 1 million. Much of our former population of 17% has been socially and economically displaced. The remaining reside within the neighborhoods of Bayview-Hunters Point, Visitacion Valley, the Fillmore, and we are scattered throughout the city.
