Gift a book, change a life

Gift a book, change a life.

This Christmas, change a child’s world – one book at a time.

Right now, 1 in 3 children in the UK grows up in poverty. Many don’t own a single book.

No story before bed. No characters to inspire them. No quiet moment to escape and dream.

They’re not just missing stories — they’re missing out on a bright future.

Literacy is key to breaking the cycle of poverty.

Without support, children who struggle with reading and have limited access to books of their choosing are more likely to face academic challenges, be excluded from the wellbeing benefits of immersing themselves in a story and may even experience poverty as adults.

But this is where you — and the National Literacy Trust — can make a real difference.

We work in the UK’s most disadvantaged communities to provide books, literacy support, and reading programmes that help children succeed, build confidence, and thrive.

Literacy has the power to equip all children, regardless of postcode, with the skills to change their future.

This Christmas, let’s make a difference.

Let’s make sure no child is left behind.

Let’s give every child the gift of stories, confidence, and hope.

Literacy changes everything.

Together we can change a child’s world – one book at a time.
