A book can change a life story this Christmas
A book can change a life story this Christmas
Imagine a child's face lighting up as they dive into a new story. This simple joy is out of reach for too many.
Did you know that 2 out of 3 children and young people do not enjoy reading during their free time? This is the lowest level we've recorded in nearly 20 years.
Without access to books, children miss out on developing the essential skills that shape their future success, creativity, and emotional wellbeing.
The decline in reading enjoyment hits the most disadvantaged communities hardest. In areas of high poverty, 1 in 8 children don't even have a single book of their own at home. These children are being left behind.
The National Literacy Trust is committed to changing this reality. With your support this Christmas, we can:
- Put books into the hands of children who need them most
- Implement creative literacy programmes in schools and community centres
- Equip teachers and librarians to inspire a love of reading
Together we can make a difference. Your gift can ensure their next chapter is filled with possibility, not struggle.
Together, we can change a life story this Christmas.
