Christmas for Kids

Every year City Council collects money for the Christmas for Kids program. In years past City Council has relied on the coin drop for collecting the majority of the money. However, due to Covid-19 concerns City Council has decided not to collect money via a coin drop. This year City Council is relying on funds from the Brusa Trust and partnering with The Barre Partnership to collect funds online. 

You may have donated to Christmas for Kids program via the coin drop before and wondered what it goes to. It is simple, the money is collected, counted, and then used to buy gifts for children in need in Barre. The names are provided by the school along with specific instructions on things they would like to have. Then Officer Jason Fleury purchases the gifts. Then they are wrapped and delivered to families. Police will deliver the presents or the parents/guardians can pick the presents at a designated location. 

Every year while discussing the Christmas for Kids program, former Mayor Thomas Lauzon would say “Every kid deserves a Christmas.” Due to Covid-19 the financial difficulties have increased. There are more children in need then previous years. Here is an opportunity to donate and help provide a happy Christmas to every child in Barre.
