Cynthia completed the course herself last year, and she now wishes to raise funds to help others with cancer to have the same experience.
With the help and support of her daughter Sally, they are raising money and awareness of cold-water swim therapy. The money they raise will allow others living with cancer, the opportunity to join an 8-week cold-water course, run by Chill South Devon.
“Into the Blue” is an 8-week cold water dipping course for people with cancer, run at Bigbury on Sea in South Devon. Our swimmers call it “life changing”, benefitting from improved joint pain, anxiety, isolation, fatigue, mood, mobility among other difficulties cancer can present.
We have a lot of fun, and the cold, the camaraderie, the movement and the beauty combine to have a transformational effect on mood, pain, mobility and meaning for people dealing with a cancer diagnosis. We know it works because people keep on swimming, meeting every week they can.
The Chill Coach is a Macmillan professional from the Mustard Tree Cancer Support Centre, and the swimmers are further supported in the water by a fully qualified beach lifeguard.
Now a group of incredible people who have previously competed our life-changing “Into the Blue” course, are now bravely skydiving to raise funds in order that others will have the same opportunity they did.
