Goal

Miss Isabellah’s Chicken Farm Expansion

Miss Isabellah cares for 14 orphans and 3 of her own children. Supporting 18 people on $180 a month is a challenge, but there's also no running water and no electricity at her home. Despite these challenges, she still wants to do more to support local orphans! That’s why Hope's Alive partnered with her to begin building Hope's Alive farm Kisii, Kenya. Hope’s Alive Poverty Solutions worked with Miss Isabellah to start a seed farm with 40 chickens. These provide her with a steady income from selling eggs.

Hope’s Alive Poverty Solutions needs your help to expand Miss Isabellah’s farm to house 500 chickens! This larger farm would allow Miss Isabellah a true escape from poverty, giving her and the orphans in her care lasting HOPE. Miss Isabellah will also be able to Pay-It-Forward. She is already teaching other widows how to care for chickens and make a profit. With a 500 chicken farm, she will be able to Pay-It-Forward by gifting a small-scale chicken farm seed to other hard working people who need an opportunity for HOPE.

Starting a Larger Chicken Farm with 500 chickens from scratch costs around $7,500 USD, and provides income and opportunities for many. But, any gift amount helps. Donate today to plant a seed which will grow into shared hope!

The main costs in expanding Miss Isabellah's chicken farm are building the coops and buying feed until the chickens begin laying. Once the hens start laying eggs around 18 weeks old, they pay for themselves!

Make a change. Share hope. Start a farm.
