Center Point/Washington Township Fire Station
The multigenerational impact that volunteer firemen and women have had on the Center Point and Washington Township community is exponential and the deeply ingrained sense of service continues to ensure the safety of all who reside in the area. As the community continues to grow, it is critical that the physical building that supports the safety or our community be updated.
The Center Point Fire Station presently located on Franklin Street has outlived its useful life. The original part of the useful life. The original part of the building was built 1950 and the additions were added in the 1970s.
Center Point has grown dramatically and will likely have a population of over 2,700 in 2020. In 2017 the fire department responded to 20 fire calls and 33 rescue calls. In 2018 they responded to 20 fire calls and 78 rescue calls and they also support calls from Washington Township.
The department is also in need of modern de-contamination space and room for the storage and accessibility of each firefighter’s equipment to be stored and easily available.
The roof of the current station has leaks in many areas that jeopardizes equipment and is leading to significant deterioration of the physical structure. There is not enough parking on site to accommodate parking for firefighters when they respond to calls, conduct training and hold meetings.
The Center Point Fire Department is an all-volunteer fire department that responds to the calls for fires, rescues and accidents, as well as offers mutual aid to surrounding communities, including the townships of Grant, Monroe, Otter Creek and Fayette.
A safe, modernized fire station built to serve our community and the surrounding townships will help secure a bright future for our volunteer fire department. Center Point and the surrounding area have a rich history of volunteerism (some include 3+ generations) wish helps make this a great place to live, work and recreate.
Our success depends on your support and we hope that you will consider a gift to help secure the safety and livability of Center Point and Washington Township as well as the surrounding area.
