Goal
Support Celia’s Legacy Campaign: Preserving a Life of Service and Love
Celia Bishop Whitehead's life was a testament to faith, love, and community service. In honoring her legacy, her family invites you to support the League of Churches (LOC). Celia was a core member of the LOC and sang in the choir with her beautiful voice. Through Celia's Legacy Campaign, your donations will continue the impactful work Celia was so passionate about, fostering unity, support, and spiritual guidance within the Enfield community and beyond.
Why Donate to Celia’s Legacy Campaign?
The League of Churches (LOC) was established to create a partnership between clergy and laypeople, engaging with the citizens and businesses of Enfield to provide essential spiritual and educational guidance. The goal is to support the entire community, ensuring everyone has the resources and support they need to thrive.
Functions of the League of Churches
1. Support and Unity: The LOC works tirelessly to establish unity, trust, and spiritual support for the people of Halifax County and the Town of Enfield. By collaborating with private businesses and citizens, we strive for the betterment of all.
2. Interfaith Dialogue: Bringing together churches and faith-based organizations, the LOC fosters dialogue among all religions, creating a unified voice with a cohesive message for the community.
3. Elderly Support: Recognizing the needs of the elderly, the LOC identifies services and provides assistance to help them live independently. This includes delivering goods, offering spiritual guidance, providing transportation, and engaging in meaningful conversation.
4. Youth Engagement: The LOC is dedicated to the growth and prosperity of the youth and young adults in our region. Through workshops and youth/adult partnerships, we help them set objectives, display their talents, and potentially find a spiritual path.
5. Interdenominational Support: By visiting and supporting various churches across Enfield, regardless of denomination, the LOC encourages unity through shared worship services and events, fostering a sense of community.
A Special Project: Securing Celia’s Family Home
Celia's daughter, Draughn, and her family are maintaining their family home—the cherished residence of her grandparents. This home, where she spent countless joyful moments playing in the backyard as a child and visiting with friends whenever she came to town, holds a wealth of precious memories. It symbolizes the warmth, love, and community spirit that Celia embodied throughout her life.
As our first project under Celia’s Legacy Campaign, the League of Churches will help secure this beloved home by installing cameras and other security features. This effort will ensure that Draughn and her family can continue to enjoy the safety and peace of this special place, preserving the legacy of love and security that Celia and her ancestors cultivated.
