Goal
As a non-profit community-based organization, CDC of PHP relies on the generosity of members like you. Your donations are used to cover a range of operating expenses in support of our initiatives to preserve the heritage of the community.
Some of the current initiatives include:
Ag Tourism | Since 2010 members of Pembroke farmers have envisioned a prosperous Pembroke Ag community. With collaboration and strategic planning, our farming families worked to achieve this vision. The CDC aims to support their efforts for a community-wide Farmer's Market and Ag Tourism. |
Wangari Tree Planting | Pembroke Township, IL is predominant with a rare ecosystem of Black Oak Trees that we are fighting to protect from developers, gas pipelines and large commercial farmers. We are developing a program to protect and replant our trees in the community in honor of Nobel Prize honoree, Wangari Mathaii. Our Wangari Project will collect the rare Black Oak Tree acorns, grow locally in nurseries and provide to homeowners, institutions and landscapes as legacy trees for future generations to benefit and interrelate with 20-30 years from now. It is a climate action movement, an economic strategy and an upliftment to our quality of life. |
Witness Trees | Once critical to grid mapping of the state, The Bearing or "Witness Trees" is a project that contributes to our state history and cultural legacies. Once mapped, they too will be included in our cultural and eco-tourism efforts. |
Please donate today to help support these and other programs.
